Russian Manufacturer Embarks on a Serial Production of Robots for Logistic Centers

MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Ronavi Robotics from Russia presented a model of their autonomous mobile robot at the Skolkovo Robotics exposition in Skolkovo Technology Park. According to the media office of the Fund for Infrastructural and Education Programs, about 100 items will start operating in large logistic centers by the end of 2019.

The first batch of 100 machines has already been reserved by the clients and will start operating in the warehouses of the country by the end of this year. Ronavi Robotics belongs to the TechnoSpark Group that is a part of the investment network of the Fund for Infrastructural and Education Programs of the Rusnano Group,” the statement said.

It is claimed that the company is the first and, so far, only domestic producer that has completed development of their own logistic robot and started its serial production and sale. When presenting their invention at the exposition, Ivan Borodin, Director of Ronavi Robotics, pointed out that autonomous mobile robots present the simplest and most affordable way to upgrade the warehouse infrastructure.

“Development of robotic warehouses significantly cuts the costs in the expansive segment of online trade, cutting corners on lighting, heating and air-conditioning. People no longer have to engage in dumb and tedious warehouse activities, and storage of goods becomes more compact, which expands the storage capacity 3-5 times,” the media office quotes the Director General of the TechnoSpark Group, Denis Kovalevich.

The robot is designed for carrying warehouse pellets with a weight of up to 1.5 tons and it is controlled via some in-house software. It can move around the warehouse at a speed of up to 5 km/h with the use of special tags when moving. These machines can recharge their own batteries, and they can be integrated into one network. The price of such robots starts from about $30,000.
